Chocolate Brownie

Chocolate Brownie

I baked this yesterday evening. Today, while loading into my blog,
I had a very good laugh because since yesterday until NOW,
I keep telling myself why this so called cake turn into brownie???
Upon reading the recipe again...I found out that it is indeed
Chocolate Brownie instead of Chocolate Cake.
Aiyoh! I am old already, need to change my spectacles.
My daughter said "You mean I have been eating so many slices
of Chocolate Brownie? Oh! My God, all the high calories!"
I nodded my head and smile because it means that it is delicious
since she had so many slices. My family and colleague said it is delicious
but need to reduce the sugar. Recipe source from Donna Hay.

250g butter (room temperature).
220g dark chocolate (cut into pieces) [original recipe 200g).

4 eggs.
185g self raising flour (shifted) [original recipe plain flour with 1/4 tsp baking powder]
310g brown sugar.
35g cocoa powder.

Melt the butter and chocolate in a bowl with low fire and
stir until smooth.

[Note : Must be low fire and keep on stirring. Don't leave it unattended.]
Once done, cool slightly.

With the mixing bowl, pour in the eggs, flour, brown sugar and cocoa powder.

Lastly, pour in the chocolate mixture.

Beat until well combined.

Once well combined, pour into lined baking tray and
bake at 185 Degree Celsius for 50 to 60 minutes or
until inserted skewer withdraws clean.
Cool for 30 minutes before turning the cake into serving plate.

My son won't care for his weight because anything to do with
chocolate, it will be his favourite food. As for my daughter,
she has to go on diet after eating so many slices.
Happy Baking.

Steamed Sweet Corn
By looking at it, don't you want to eat it?
Regardless of who you are and what age you are in, sure you will love to eat it
while you are window shopping, going to watch movie, pasar malam walk and etc.
My daughter and I love to eat it (shhhhh...she is crazy than me).
It is very easy to make your own.
Do try it out, you won't regret it and I think your family will ask more of it.

Mee Suah Noodle Soup (Flour Vermicelli)

Mee Suah Noodle Soup (Flour Vermicelli)
Mee Suah (Flour Vermicelli) is our family favourite noodle.
With a few ingredients, you can make it for your whole family.
Cheaper, high quality ingredients and more quantity compare to eating outside.

Some Tung Choi (China Salted Vegetables)
- Wash a few times and squeeze out the water.

Few pieces of Fish Balls and Foo Chok.
Flour Vermicelli.
Some Sweet Potato Vegetables.

Wash and drain the Sweet Potato Vegetables. Keep at one side.

Once your Dried Anchovies Soup is boiling, par boil the
Fish Balls and Foo Chok. Dish out and keep at one side once
the Fish Balls and Foo Chok are cooked.
Keep on boiling the Dried Anchovies Soup.

(Note : Once the Fish Balls and Foo Chok are floating,
it means it is cooked)

With another pot, par boil the Sweet Potato Vegetables
and keep at one side.

The above ingredients of Sweet Potato Vegetables,
Bean Sprout (balance from fridge), Fish Balls and Foo Chok
are par boiled.
Keep at one side.

Now, you have to cook the Mee Suah (Flour Vermicelli).
Take one bundle.

Put into the hot boiling water and try to push the Mee Suah into deeper of the water.

Keep on stirring.

Look like this, shake a few times and test it by biting whether it is cooked
or not? Beware, Mee Suah (Flour Vermicelli) cook very fast.
Don't cook too long, if not, the Mee Suah will be soggy.

Place all the cooked ingredients
(Mee Suah, Sweet Potato Vegetables, Fish Balls,
Foo Chok, Tung Choi and Dried Anchovies Soup)
into a serving bowl and serve at once.
Seeing them (my husband, son and daughter) eating two bowls for each person,
makes me a very happy wife and mother.
Its worth all the effort .
:-)

Lor Hon Kor Drink (Buddha Fruit)

Lor Hon Kor Drink (Buddha Fruit)

As said earlier, my dear princess (daughter) is having bad
sore throat since last few days ago.
Today, I am boilding Lor Hon Kor Drink (Buddha Fruit)
to cool down her body. Told her not to study so hard (day and night),
not enough of sleep and food, of course the body will be weak.
Well, after drinking this and that my mother and I cooked for her,
at least she is getting better.
You can boil this to drink anytime of the day, not necessary to
wait until sick time....ha ha ha.

40g Rock Sugar Cane.
50g Dried Longan -soak and rinse.
2 pieces of Lor Hon Kor (Buddha Fruit) - wash the skin and break into pieces.

Pour 3.5 liter of water into a pot.
Pour in the broken Lor Hon Kor (Buddha Fruit) and
Dried Longan.
Boil with high fire.

Look like this after 10 minutes.

After 10 minutes, open the lid little bit and boil another 50 minutes
with medium fire.

After 50 minutes, pour in the Rock Sugar Cane and stir until
the Rock Sugar Cane is dissolved. If not enough of sweetness,
put more until to your satisfaction.

See! So easy job.
If you buy from Herbal Store, it will cost you around RM2.80
for one plastic cup. With all these ingredients that I bought to boil
this pot, its just cost me less than RM10.00 with one BIG pot.
If you can't finish it, you can pour into a water container and
put into the fridge for next day to drink.

Did you see the Dried Longan inside the glass?...I just love to eat it.
Happy Drinking and Eating.

Vegetarian Glass Noodle

Vegetarian Glass Noodle
My dear daughter is having bad sore throat.
So, today I am cooking simple lunch because she said
that she only wanted to eat little bit and moreover
my husband is overseas and my son had gone to college
for extra class. Left both of us in the house.
Since I am having these ingredients inside my kitchen,
I opted to cook Vegetarian Glass Noodle.

Bought this package of Korean Glass Noodle from
Jayajusco Supermarket, MidValley.
This Korean Glass Noodle is thicker than our
Malaysian Glass Noodle. It is crunchier.

100g Korean Glass Noodle. (Sound little but it is enough for two persons)
100g Cabbage.
150g Carrot.
230g Bean Sprout.
2 pips of Garlic.

(Note : Vegetables - Not necessary to follow exactly the weight
of my recipe. You can put more or less. The choice is yours.)

Soak the Korean Glass Noodle with cold tap water
for 15 minutes. Once done, drain the water and keep at one side.

While you are waiting for the Korean Glass Noddle to be soaked,
you can start julienne the vegetables and mince the garlic.
Once done, keep at one side.

With a pot with boiling water, pour in the soaked
Korean Glass Noodle and boil for 6 minutes or
until the Korean Glass Noodle is cooked.
You have to take out one strand to bite it, in order to know
whether it is cooked or not.

Once the Korean Glass Noodle is cooked,
pour it into a colander to drain the water and let cold tap
water to run through the Korean Glass Noddle for 1 or
2 minutes to make it crunchier. Leave it at one side
with tap water soaking the Korean Glass Noodle.
I prefer to do this way because if not, I find the Korean
Glass Noodle will stick to each other and difficult for me to stir fry it.

Heat up the wok and oil.

Once the oil is heated up, pour in the minced garlic and
stir fry for few second.

Then pour in the carrot and stir fry until the carrot is soften.

Pour in the cabbage and stir fry until soft.

Once all soften, sprinkle with some salt.

Then, pour in the Korean Glass Noodle and stir fry for
a few minutes.

(Note : Make sure you have drained the water before putting
in the Korean Glass Noodle.)

Lastly, I put in the bean sprout because by putting in at the end,
I find that my bean sprout is crunchier.
Stir fry until well combined.

Pour in 1/2 table spoon of soya sauce, sprinkle with some
salt, a few dash of sesame oil and pepper.

And stir fry until well combined.
If not enough of taste, put more either of soya sauce, salt or pepper.
Choice is yours.

Serve in a serving plate.
My dear daughter had two bowls even though earlier
she said wanted to eat little bit only.
I know she will like this dish because it is meatless.
She is trying to become pescetarian.

End result :- It is DELICIOUS!
:) My happy face.
