Stir Fried Four Angled Beans With Lotus Root

Stir Fried Four Angled Beans With Lotus Root
My family loves this dish.  It is very easy to cook.
You will love this dish if you like to eat crunchy food.

250g Four Angled Beans (wash, drain and slice)
300g Lotus Root (wash, drain, peel the skin and slice)
Some chopped Garlic.
100g Dried Shrimps (soak with water for 5 minutes, wash drain and chop)
3 Dried Chilies (soak with water for 5 minutes and halves)

Heat up the wok with some cooking oil.

Saute the garlic and then the dried shrimps until cook.
Make sure your garlic is not burnt.

Pour in the Dried Chilies and stir fry until the chilies turn into
lighter in colour.

Then pour in the Lotus Root and stir fry further.

Lastly, pour in the Four Angled Beans and stir fry further.

If you noticed your vegetables are a bit dry, pour in 1/2 cup of water
or lesser.  Season with salt (remember not to put so much
because your Dried Shrimps is salty).

Yummy :) Yummy

Last few days ago, while having dinner with my two kids,
my daughter asked me how does I feel when all my kids have all
grown up?  She asked me this question because in the afternoon,
my husband sms to us saying that he has bought one 2nd hand
car (MyV) for my daughter to ease her movement when she is
attending college in a few months time to start her Bachelor of Laws.
I don't feel lonely because both of my kids (son age 21 years old
and daughter age 19 years old) still stick to me like glue :) because
till now, both of them still like to go out shopping with my husband and I,
still like to watch movie with me and my mother (we have been doing it
since they are young), still go out for supper in the middle of the night
during weekend or holiday, still have breakfast, lunch and dinner together
as family during all weekends and holidays and etc etc.
BUT I know sooner or later they wouldn't stick to me like glue
when they have love in their life or family.  I am not scare or unhappy
to think about it because it is still a long way ahead.
We'll just be happy as a FAMILY.

Scramble Egg And Tomato With Tortilla Wrap

Scramble Egg And Tomato With Tortilla Wrap
This is one of my daughter's favourite healthy food.
This girl of mine can have it for her breakfast, lunch and dinner.
She won't get bored with it.  I kind of also like it even though
it is for our 3 meals in a day.  How I wish!  My husband and son
sure will complain if I ever do it.  Once in a while,
we need to take something light which is good for our body.

Few pieces of Tortilla.

Scramble Eggs with Tomato.

Heat up the non stick pan (without any cooking oil, please).

Place one piece of the tortilla and once you noticed that
there is bubble coming out, turn quickly to the other side.
Take it out once both side has been heated up.

Place one piece of the Tortilla on top of a flat plate.

Scoop out some the Scramble Eggs with Tomato and
place it nearly to the edge of the Tortilla (like the picture above).

From the edge, roll it (like the picture above).

Roll until to the end (like the picture above).
Eat it whole piece or cut into half (it is just matter of preference).
Some prefer to squeeze some tomato ketchup, chilli sauce,
mayonnaise, thousand island or......the choice is yours.

Isn't it is tempting to cook immediately for your family, friends
or yourself?
:)

My dear daughter wrapped it in a rectangular shape rather than rolling it.

I would like to share this story which I found it very amusing.
My friend told me that some people do not have manners.
When people offer us food, we will eat it politely and sensibly
(Am I right?).  But to others, they wouldn't care.  Even though
they have just finished their portion, they will still eat another
person's portion even though the host has told them that there will be
people coming to eat.  The host even said "Ooh....you have finished it!
Now, my other friends don't have any food to eat!
All they did was grin at the host.  Why are there such people?

Linguine With Mushroom Carbonara Sauce

Linguine With Mushroom Carbonara Sauce
My son have always loved carbonara sauce.
My daughter are so so on sauces. She prefers olive oil.
My dear colleague Elly Chong told Stephanie Chua and me that
this brand called Dolmio Mushroom & Herbs Sauce is delicious.
So, both of us "Ah Soh" (housewife) bought the sauce
with other ingredients to cook for our family.
Elly did not lie to us, it is indeed "sedap" (delicious).

One bottle (560g) of the Dolmio Mushroom & Herb Sauce.
One can of the Button Mushroom.
350g Linguine Wheat Semolina Organic Pasta.

Drain and wash the button mushrooms and then quarter.
Break all the Linguine into half. (choice is yours)

Heat up the pan with some cooking oil.

Saute the mushroom for less than 5 minutes.

Pour in 3 cups of the sauce.

Cook until bubble comes out and switch off the fire.
Leave at one side.

Boil one pot of water with some salt.
Once the water is boiling, pour in all the Linguine and cook
until al dente.

Once cooked, drain the water by using the colander.

Pour some of the Linguine into serving plate.

Then pour in some sauce.
Isn't it is mouth watering?  Can't wait to dig in.

Next month, I won't be blogging a lot because during early
in the month I will be away overseas for holiday with my
dear colleagues, Stephanie Chua, Elly Chong and
Irene Lee.  Can't wait to travel with them.
And then later in the month, I will be away overseas with family
for holiday.   All the while, my husband does not like
to travel in big group because he hates to wait for this
fellow and that fellow.  He prefers to have a private tour.
Just the four of us.  I know it is a bit expensive but what
to do, since my husband prefers this kind of service.
August 2012, relaxing month for me.

Seafood Fried Rice

Seafood Fried Rice
I got this idea when I was browsing inside the Isetan Supermarket
in KLCC with my daughter.  Firstly, we went
there to purchase some books from Kinokuniya Bookstore.
Saw this lovely pre-packed seafood consists of prawns,
clams and squids.  I just need to wash it.  Such an easy job...
no need to peel and cut.  Once in a while we need to
pamper ourselves.  Hehehe.
I need to apologise for not writing down the weight of
all these ingredients because this is just an agak-agak (estimation) only.
Don't be scared if you want to agak-agak (estimate) because
to me, it is not the end of the world!  Good news is that we don't
need to use so much of our brain cells to weigh and weigh and
write down.

Three bowls of cooked rice (preferably over night).
4 eggs.
Some prawns, squids and clams.

Beat eggs with dash of pepper, soya sauce and salt.

Marinate the seafood with dash of pepper and salt.

Beaten eggs.

Heat up the wok with cooking oil.

Pour in all the seafood and quickly stir fry and then pour in
1/2 tablespoons of cooking rice wine.

Dish out and put at one side.

Heat up the wok with cooking oil and 1/2 teaspoon of salt.

Pour in the cooked rice and stir for a few times.

Make a hole in the middle.

Pour in the beaten eggs.

And stir fry until well combined or until the rice has the popping
sound.

Then pour in all the cooked seafood.

And stir until done and scoop out into serving plate.

My daughter and I finished all the above.

I am so happy that I have made a good decision by sending my
son to a Legal Firm as Attachment Student for 3 months (since he
is on holiday and will resume his Part 1 LLB in September 2012).
Even though he has a small allowance from the firm but to me,
the experience and exposure are better than anything else.
This week will be his 3rd weeks and he is LOVING it.
After the 2nd week, he said "Mummy, practical is better than theory"
which one can't learn from college.
Now I am cracking my head where to send my daughter to?
[She is having long holiday while waiting for her Cambridge A Level, either
she will start her LLB (yeap! following her brother's foot step)
in September 2012 or January 2013 Intake...she is still pondering. This girl likes to ponder a lot :]
