Stuffed Fried Tauhu (Tauhu Sumbat)

Stuffed Fried Tauhu (Tauhu Sumbat)

Today, I make this again because it is one of my
favourite snacks. Beancurd has a lot of words,
Tauhu, Tofu, Towfu and etc.  Not sure which
one will be the correct word.  Well, whatever the
the correct word will be, it is just made from Soya Beans.
I just leave it to the bright brain to sort it out
because I just wanted to eat it only.

I am submitting this post to Little Thumbs Up "Soya Beans" event
organized by Zoe from Bake For Happy Kids and
and hosted by Mich from Piece of Cake.

Steamed Tofu With Fish Paste

Steamed Tofu (Bean Curd) With Fish Paste
Eating tofu (bean curd) is good for health.  The taste is bland but if mixed
together with other ingredients sauce, it will be a delicious healthy dish.
If you want more details on tofu (literally mean bean curd),

This recipe was passed down from my maternal grandmother
to my mother, my mother to me and now to my children.
As said before, my mother is 76 years old and this recipe from
my maternal grandmother, so this dish will be more than 100 years old?
According to my mother, this dish is a "poor man food", to me it is
not "poor man food" because the pre-made fish paste bought
from the wet market is not that cheap lor.  As usual, my daughter
is my quality controller and gave me a thumbs up but she prefer
the fish meat to be medium size chunky instead of mashed finely.
I love to eat it only with hot piping rice, just mix it with my rice
and eat it straight away.

3 pieces of soft tofu.
230g of fish paste (you can get it from wet market fish monger).

Mash the three tofu to finely or chunky (all depends to your preference).

Then, add in the fish paste.

Mash it until finely or chunky (all depends to your preference).

Lastly, pour in one tablespoon of cooking oil, some dash of salt and pepper.

Note  : When we bought the pre-made fish paste, the fish monger has
already put salt into it, so remember to be cautious when you are
adding salt.

Pour into a plate and level the top with the back of the spoon evenly.
Steam at high fire for 15 minutes or less (depends on your quantity
and fire).

Once cooked, turn off the fire and scoop away all the water on top of the
tofu/fish paste.

Sprinkle the top with dash of black pepper, soya sauce, fried shallot,
oil from the fried shallot and spring onion.

Lovely to see, smell and delicious to eat.
Once eaten, considered sold the recipe to you....LOL

Meal 1 - Rice, Pan Fried Dried Bean Curd with Fish Paste And Stir Fried Cabbage with Dried Shrimp

Meal 1
Rice, Pan Fried Dried Bean Curd
with Fish Paste And Stir Fried Cabbage
with Dried Shrimp

Once in a while, we do not know what to cook or bake.
Am I right?
The truth is that I bake more than I cook.
I do not have to worry what to cook from Monday to Friday
because my dear mother still cook for us.  Either my husband or
one of my kids will drop by at her house at a specific time to collect our
food.  All those food cooked by her will be put in a tiffin except for the
rice and soup which will be put in a warmer.  I cook only during weekends
or public holiday and it also depends on my moooood.
HahaHa, so bad of me, I just wanted to relax and lazy around during
weekends after my hectic working life from Monday to Friday.
Well, so far, no complaint from my family but I feel that they are
happy if I cook for them.

If you like the above two dishes, just click below for the recipes.

Bon Appetit!

Stri Fry Roast Pork (Siew Yoke) With French Beans And Five Spice Bean Curd

Stir Fry Roast Port (Siew Yoke) With
French Beans And Five Spice Bean Curd
The above dish is just like one stone killing two birds....oooh I am not a birdie
killer, just a matter of expression, haha!  Well, my husband and son
like the Roast Pork (Siew Yoke), my daughter likes the French Beans and
lastly, I like the Five Spice Bean Curd.
This week will be the 2nd last week of June 2013.  Time flies so fast,
another one more week, we will be going into the 2nd half of the year.
Do you want it to be fast or slow? For me, I am not sure. Something for you to ponder.

Today, my daughter went to college to be interviewed for Moot Competition.
She succeeded for the 1st and 2nd round and now awaiting result.
Before she went to college, she backed out suddenly because
she didn't revise all her notes.  I push her to go ahead and
told her to not be like the type of plant that closes up its leaves when we touche it.
Just like when we face difficulty, we back out.
Told her to go ahead and do it. If fail, try again.
My son did his Moot and now my daughter is trying Moot as well,
so proud of them.  Just like this dish, delicious and satisfying.

345g French Bean (clean and drain)
547g Roast Pork (Siew Yoke)
2 pieces of Five Spice Bean Curd (lightly wash and drain)

French Beans - Cut around 1 inch to 1 1/2 inches in length.
Five Spice Bean Curds - Cut into strip.
Roast Pork (Siew Yoke)
1/2 tablespoon of minced garlic.

Heat up the wok with 1 tablespoon of cooking oil.

Stir fry the Five Spice Bean Curd until slightly brownish.
Do not over cooked it because the bean curd will be hard.

Dish out and keep at one side.

With the same wok, pour in 1 tablespoon of cooking oil and slightly brown the garlic.

Pour in the cut Roast Pork (Siew Yoke) and stir fry for a 2 minutes.
It is not necessary to cook it longer because the Roast Pork
(Siew Yoke) is already cooked.

Pour a few drop of Dark Soya Sauce and stir fry until well combined.
Do not pour in any salt or soya sauce because the Roast Pork
(Siew Yoke) is already salty.

Pour in the French Beans and stir fry further for 2 minutes and
pour in some water if it is a bit dry.

Stir until well combined.

When the water is about to dry up, lastly, pour in the Five Spice Bean Curds
and stir until well combined.

Taste it, if the french beans and five spice bean curds are not that salty,
by all means sprinkle some salt or soya sauce and stir until well combined and dish out.

Eat with your hot piping rice.  Enjoy

Stuffed Fried Tauhu (Tauhu Sumbat)

Stuffed Fried Tauhu (Tauhu Sumbat)
Malaysians' favourite snack.  I just love it.
Our company provided us with a free lunch from Monday to Friday and
last few days ago when I went down to the Cafetaria, I saw this Stuffed Fried
Tauhu at the appetizer corner and without any hesitation,
I quickly took 4 pieces.  Ha Ha Ha...I am not the greedy dragon,
it is 4 small pieces and not the whole 4 pieces.
While eating, I told myself that I am going to make it during this weekend.
Well, as promised to myself, I make it today.
Whoever do not cook, will find this recipe the easier to make.
Do it, I am sure your family or friends will love it.

8 pieces of firm Beancurd (Tauhu).
One Cucumber and One Carrot.

Pat dry the Beancurd and cut diagonally into half.
Shred or slice the cucumber and carrot.

Heat up the cooking oil.

Deep fry all the beancurds around 3 minutes or until crispy on the outside.
Remember to on and off turn the beancurds.

Once done, lift it up and drain the oil by using the rack on top of the pot for
few minutes.  By doing so, your beancurds won't be oily.

Slit the beancurd from one end of the other end.

Pry open slightly by using your fingers and scoop
in the carrot and cucumber.

Look like this.  Put at one side.

Drizzle with some Thai Sweet Chili Sauce.

This afternoon I read my daughter's blog (CapturingCaely) and very amused
towards those insecure young adults.  My daughter is a very well behaved girl
with high values, she knows what is right and wrong, she does not go out
hunting for guys or sleep around with guys, kissing guys in the public, hugging
guys in the public because she needs to concentrate in her A Level seriously
and the good list goes on and on. Why on earth will this girl in her college think
that my daughter is chasing after her boyfriend.  I think they watch too much
of bad TV or movies.  I admit my daughter do have dreams to have good
boyfriend, but to her, this is not the right time because she wanted to study
hard to get good results in the A Level, she needs to concentrate in her study
and not prowling for boys.  My son said that maybe this girl thinks that our
daughter is prettier, smarter than her, that is why she is so insecure.
We told her not bother with this kind of things.  We pity their parents.

United Buddy Bears

It will only exhibit until 15February 2012
and will make their way to another country,
Malaysia is the 1st South-East Asian country to be chosen for its tour.
The Buddy Bears exhibition was 1st held in Berlin in Year 2002.

My daughter and I took this
United Buddy Bear called Luxembourg after our
dinner at Jogoya, Starhill, yesterday night. Three of us including my son
had dinner celebrating my son 2nd Moot participation organized
by his college and also to derail my daughter sadness over one
of her college friends back stabbing among themselves.
Thanks God, they found out before everything got out of hands.
Well, I have told her that if this friend of their does not appreciate
their friendship, then forget about her and carry on with their life.

Below is the picture of my son cooking Shabu-Shabu at
Jogoya......we have fun eating, talking, laughing and etc,
too bad that my husband did not join us because he is away
for business.

Back to cooking recipe .........
